Strategies for getting evidence into practice

There are some essential factors associated with getting evidence into practice. These are:

  • Leadership (expressing, modelling the change, and reinforcing the change)
  • Communication (frequent, and varied - written, spoken, electronic) targeted to your specific audience
  • Support for change in the workplace (enlisting change ‘champions’ who can keep the ball rolling).

Read the National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence's guide on how to change practice. Part 1 describes the types of barriers that may be experienced, Part 2 offers practical ways to identify barriers in your own workplace, and Part 3 suggests solutions to overcome the barriers associated with getting change into practice.
